My name is Mike (KJ6LNH) and I’m based in California. By day I’m a solution architect for data platforms — I spend most of my time around the cloud, data, and the plumbing that moves it all from one place to another.

I’ve been a licensed amateur radio operator since 2010 and hold a general class license. These days most of my on-air time is on the digital modes. There’s a lot of FT8 on HF, and I’ve got a real soft spot for AX.25 packet — keyboard-to-keyboard and APRS. I keep an ear on the VHF/UHF repeaters too. Lately I’ve been getting out for POTA (Parks on the Air) activations, with a handful under my belt, and I’m hoping to try some SOTA (Summits on the Air) before too long.

When I’m not on the air I’m usually tinkering with something: microcontrollers and embedded projects, 3D printing and fabrication, and a home lab that keeps quietly absorbing more self-hosted services and home automation. I got into electronics as a kid, and somewhere along the way “just starting to build things from scratch” turned into actually building them.

When I manage to step away from the screens and the soldering iron, I like to get outside and hike.
